Artist Shane Wood
Shane Wood grew up around welding as her father owned a hollow-metal door customization business. However, she had never tried her hand at the trade until taking a beginning metal sculpture course at the Spruill Art Center in Atlanta in 2002. After a couple of courses at Spruill, she continued to develop her skill on her own, focusing predominantly on “found object” art. She enjoys transforming once discarded metal into relevant, and sometimes whimsical, art. Shane creates under the name of Has-Been Metalworks and is currently is interested in the creation of found object industrial art. Shane and her family relocated to Chattanooga in 2005 and have been refreshed by the emerging art scene that is developing there. She currently lives with her partner and their two children in Highland Park.
